Project site clean up labor at Allen Family Enterprises, LLC - AFE Drilling in Smackover, Arkansas, United States Job Description
Job Summary:
The Clean-Up Crew Laborer supports a horizontal directional drilling (HDD) team responsible for installing underground fiber optic cable. This role focuses on maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient job site by managing drilling byproducts, assisting crew members, and ensuring proper site restoration after drilling operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Remove and dispose of drilling fluids (mud), cuttings, and debris from bore sites and surrounding areas Maintain cleanliness and organization of job sites, equipment, and vehicles Support drill crew with general labor tasks, including loading/unloading materials and tools Set up and tear down traffic control devices, safety barriers, and signage Restore work areas post-installation (backfilling, grading, seeding, and general site clean-up) Follow all safety protocols, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) Identify and report hazards, equipment issues, or unsafe conditions to supervisors Operate basic hand tools and small equipment (shovels, pressure washers, pumps, etc.) Assist with locating utilities and protecting existing infrastructure as needed
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required Previous construction or outdoor labor experience is a plus Ability to work in physically demanding conditions (lifting 50+ lbs, standing, bending, working in various weather conditions) Willingness to learn HDD processes and fiber installation basics Strong work ethic and reliability Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team Valid driver's license preferred
Work Environment:
Outdoor construction sites in varying weather conditions Exposure to mud, water, noise, and heavy equipment
Safety Requirements:
Adhere to OSHA and company safety standards Wear required PPE (hard hat, safety vest, gloves, steel-toe boots, eye/ear protection)
Physical Requirements:
Lift and carry heavy materials (50—75 lbs) Walk and stand for extended periods Perform repetitive motions such as shoveling and lifting Ability to work in trenches or uneven terrain
Schedule & Travel:
Full-time, with potential overtime Travel to various job sites may be required
