Job Description
Trident Seafoods is North America's largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company. Summary :
Responsible for the implementation and coordination of the elements of PSM, RMP and CAA 608 programs, regulatory compliance, and the integrity of the industrial refrigerant systems, including ammonia and other cooling process systems at one of our various shore plants in Alaska.Key Responsibilities:
Implements PSM programs and ensures that regulatory requirements are met at a minimum as directed by the Corporate Industrial Refrigeration Manager. Provides direction to the PSM teams and assists the plants in developing, implementing, and sustaining plant specific policies, procedures, programs, and training to achieve and maintain compliance with Health & Safety and environmental laws and regulations. Conducts routine meetings with designated refrigeration personnel. Implements corporate programs and systems that drive consistency while ensuring that procedures and practices are aligned with state and federal laws and regulations. Maintains a working knowledge of PSM (14 elements), RMP, CAA 608 and applicable state and federal rules and regulations. Provide technical and high level PSM related training as required. Implements and maintains the above regulations, requirements, and programs. Conducts audits and inspections of plant performance and activities. Educates personnel on program aspects that include hazard recognition, inspections and how to address gaps. Coordinates, and participates in PSM and RMP program activities at a local and asset level which include management of change, pre-startup safety review, and process hazard analysis activities. The PSM Coordinator also coordinates and participates in field MOC and PSSR meetings when needed. Monitors and assists in training on operating procedures including the annual review/certification and initial/refresher training. The PSM Coordinator assists in creating and updating operating procedures when needed as well as maintaining the operating procedure training matrix. Conducts PSM and RMP training to facility, asset, regional employees, and contractors. Oversees, coordinates, and participates in employee participation activities in accordance with PSM and RMP programs. Promotes a process safety culture and drives improvements in the PSM/RMP programs. Oversees and coordinates development and updates to a facility's process safety information as required by PSM/RMP regulations. Assists in maintaining the facility's RMP plan including the offsite consequence analysis as needed. Assists on corporate PSM/RMP compliance audits as needed. Provides support during OSHA and EPA audits of the PSM and RMP programs, and other regulatory audits of refrigeration systems. Coordinates data retrieval, compilation, and reporting for company's process safety key performance indicator metrics. Provides direction to Corporate Risk Management, Engineering, Maintenance and contractors for refrigeration and related cooling projects / modifications. Defines and prioritizes site programs to meet the needs of regulatory compliance, risk analysis recommendations, corporate policies, site specific procedures and audit findings. Assist plant staff in prioritization of action items to address gaps. Provides technical direction related to required mechanical integrity elements to be included in overall refrigeration maintenance actions at the plant. Conducts training in both small and large group settings.Additional Responsibilities:
Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions. Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings Performs other similar or related duties as requested or as assigned. A minimum of 3 years of experience leading and coordinating PSM and RMP activities Associate Degree (A.A.) or equivalent, in a technical topicPreferred Qualifications:
Food Processing background (Maintenance or Production) preferred. Knowledgeable of the PSM Standard and RMP rule and be able to lead associated activities at the facility and asset level Formal training in facilitating HAZWOP and What-if/Checklist PHAs or be willing to complete such trainingPreferred Training and Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. The ability to be familiar with the use of design software, as well as word processing and spreadsheets is expected.Special Training/Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to supervisor and other employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.Mental Activities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to understand English, and utilize teamwork skills. The employee is frequently required to speak English, and use decision making skills. The employee is occasionally required to use interpersonal, customer service, mentoring, problem analysis, training and supervision skills.
