Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our drug and alcohol residential treatment and detox program . The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive psychiatric and medication management services to individuals experiencing substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. This role focuses on assessment, stabilization, detox support, and ongoing psychiatric care within a structured residential setting. The Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner will work closely with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and case management to deliver trauma-informed, patient-centered care that supports recovery, safety, and continuity of treatment. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments for adult patients admitted to residential treatment and medical detox programs, with a focus on substance use disorders and co-occurring diagnoses. Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychotropic and MAT-related medications in accordance with detox protocols, stabilization needs, and ongoing treatment planning. Develop and adjust individualized treatment plans based on diagnostic evaluations, withdrawal presentation, and clinical progress, utilizing EMR/EHR systems. Monitor patients throughout detoxification and residential care, conducting regular follow-ups and making medication adjustments to support stabilization and recovery. Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams, including medical providers, therapists, nursing staff, and utilization review, to ensure coordinated care and safe transitions between levels of care. Provide clinical support during acute psychiatric or withdrawal-related presentations, including crisis intervention as appropriate within a residential setting. Educate patients on psychiatric conditions, medication adherence, side effects, and the role of medication in recovery. Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with HIPAA, state regulations, and accreditation standards. Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, and discharge planning to support continuity of care and long-term recovery outcomes. Adhere to infection control, medication safety, and facility policies relevant to residential and detox environments.
