Outpatient Geriatric Behavioral Health Pay:

Lake Behavioral Hospital Management is a branch of Lake Behavioral Health dedicated to overseeing programs and managing employees for outpatient behavioral health units within hospitals. Job Summary The position is located at Ascension St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood, IN, and is managed by Lake Behavioral Health. The program serves those aged 65 and older experiencing depression and anxiety associated with life changes. The Psychiatric Technician plays a crucial role in providing a range of patient care services, clerical duties, and administrative support for the Program Director. This position is essential for creating a safe, efficient, and positive environment for patients in the program. The Technician ensures safe and timely transportation to and from the program and assists program staff and patients as needed. Job Duties and Responsibilities Actively supports the mission, philosophy, and goals of Lake Behavioral Health the host hospital. Adheres to work practices consistent with the mission of Lake Behavioral Health, medical staff bylaws, and departmental policies and procedures. Maintains the highest ethical standards in all program activities. Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor. Attends and completes all required in-services and trainings. Ensures confidentiality of all patient information and protects patient rights. Demonstrates care and concern in all interactions with patients, caregivers, agencies, and facilities, while remaining tactful and respectful to patients, families, and visitors. Assists in group activities as requested by the Therapist or Program Director. Functions as an integral part of the treatment team. Utilizes universal precautions and adheres to the infection control policies of the host hospital. Prioritizes patient safety above all else. Provides support in emergency situations as directed by the Program Nurse or Designee. Takes vital signs when needed. Training will be provided. Communicates any concerns regarding patients to the Therapist, Nurse, and/or Program Director. Complies with all administrative, clinical, human resource, regulatory agencies, state and local regulations, and host hospital standards. Completes daily reports as directed by the Program. Assists with all paperwork requirements from pre-admission through post-discharge. Coordinates patient transportation when necessary and assists in planning daily schedules and routes. Drives and maintains the company vehicle, ensuring proper maintenance, repair, fueling, and cleanliness. Notifies the unit Program Nurse/Program Director immediately if a patient is ill or injured during transport and completes incident reporting if necessary. Assists patients in and out of the vehicle, ensuring their safety. Assists with patients' nutritional needs. Prepares snacks for patients upon request. Conducts facility safety checks to ensure a clean and safe environment. Assists the Program Director in event planning and networking with the pulblic to spread awareness of the program. Performs other duties as assigned by the Program Nurse/Program Director. Your Skills Proficient in computer use Prior experience with EMR/EHR (Electronic Medical/Health Record software) Strong time management skills Ability to multi-task Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work with a team, but also able to work independently, as needed Safe operation of vehicles Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required, along with a valid Driver's License in good standing. A minimum of six months transporting patients is preferred. CPR/First Aid/CPI certification is preferred and required within the first 90 days of employment. Experience with the program's population and in a behavioral health care facility is preferred. $14.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Application Question(s): Do you have a valid driver's license? Does your DL have any violations? If so, please explain. Are you able to lift and carry up to 50lbs, and push and pull up to 250lbs? Are you comfortable driving larger vehicles in various sizes to transport clients? This could be vans, short or full-size buses. Can you pass a drug screen for pre-employment and random testing during employment? Because this position requires driving clients, prescribed opioids and THC are not allowed. Please supply 2 or 3 times over the next few days that you would be available for a virtual interview.
