Summary:
The food services prep cook prepares and serves the students fresh fruit & vegetables & does the dishes in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and warmth. To accomplish these tasks the food services prep cook must work closely with the staff and director of food services. The food services prep cook must follow safe food handling policies and procedures, recipes, plating instructions, etc. Pay is based on experience. Job remains until filled.
Qualifications/Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the central office (after employment offer is made). Maintain current TB testing as required by Health Department regulations. Ability to implement and follow all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. Basic computer knowledge to send and receive e-mail Ability to react to changes and frequent interruptions in a productive, positive manner Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community Meet all district safety requirements Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities Ability to follow written and oral directions and to work with little supervision. Ability to handle and get along with children.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to perform food production work efficiently, while maintaining a neat and sanitary work area. Ability to ensure all activities conform to district guidelines. Ability to ensure portion control, appearance, and temperature of all food items is per standard. Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community. Ability to react to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, meeting deadlines as assigned. Ability to operate all equipment appropriately as required. Ability to implement and follow the vision and mission of the district.
General Responsibilities:
Regular onsite attendance Ability to perform duties assigned by kitchen manager to prepare and serve meals in an efficient and pleasant manner. Ability to properly use and care for all equipment in all phases of food preparation. Ability to follow rules for personal hygiene and overall cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen. Ability to work with kitchen manager in a pleasant, cheerful manner to make school meals a happy learning time for all students. Attend in-service meetings and job-related training classes when possible for learning and exchange of ideas to make the breakfast and lunch programs successful. Ability to implement and follow all school district policies at all times. Dress appropriately and have good personal hygiene & appearance Tattoos that are perceived as offensive, hostile or that diminish the effectiveness of the employee's professionalism must be covered and not visible to staff, or guests Ability to respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner. Ability to implement and follow all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan. Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the kitchen manager, food services director, administrators or superintendent.
Physical Requirements:
Requires prolonged standing. Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching and turning. Occasionally may require physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry or push objects or materials less than 50 lbs. May be exposed to hot, humid work areas. Must work in noisy and crowded environment, with numerous interruptions. Must be able to work in and around fumes and odors.
