Job Title:
Part Time Speech Language Pathologist Reports to: Director of Special Education and Student Services
Salary Schedule:
SLP Scale (15 hours/week)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to develop IEP goals and objectives and align with SOL's. Ability to use augmentative communication and assistive technology devices. Ability to develop effective relationships with students, parents and school personnel. Possess knowledge of the Virginia regulations governing special education programs for students with disabilities. Possess knowledge and use of articulation, phonological principles, fluency, receptive, expressive and programmatic language.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Administers appropriate speech/hearing screenings and evaluations. Provides appropriate speech and language services for Pre-K-12 students. Creates and maintains an inclusive, supportive learning environment. Administers speech/language evaluations to referred students, analyzes and interprets the results in a written report. Serves as an active participant on committees and school teams including those that investigate the special needs of students and collaborates on classroom interventions. Observes the student in the classroom to determine observable learning styles, behaviors, personal characteristics, and academic strengths and weaknesses. Develops and implements interventions in the classrooms to address special needs and concerns. Serves as a consultant for teachers, parents, and administrators to enhance the academic experience of individual students and to promote scholastic achievement in the educational setting. Participates in Individualized Educational Plan meetings when requested to assist in the development of an appropriate educational program. Conferences with parents, teachers, community professionals and students, where appropriate to explain evaluation results and discuss implications for instruction. Assists in assuring division compliance to local, state and federal regulations governing special education. Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Must hold a master's degree or higher in Speech/Language, Speech Pathology, or Communication Disorder Must hold or be eligible for an active license with a valid endorsement in speech language pathology issued by the Board of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (BASLP)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with students with disabilities in preschool through high school Experience delivering speech therapy services within an inclusive environment
