Public Health Nurse

Overview The Spencer County Health Department is seeking a motivated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our public health team full-time. This position plays an important role in promoting and protecting the health of Spencer County residents through education, prevention, clinical services, and community outreach. This position offers the opportunity to work in a rewarding public health setting while making a direct impact on the residents of Spencer County. The Public Health Nurse will work closely with local and state partners, including the Indiana Department of Health (IDOH), schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to support public health initiative and nursing serviced throughout the county. Position Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Providing public health nursing care and health education to individuals and families throughout the community Administering immunizations and assisting with vaccine clinics for children and adults Participating in public health programs and community outreach activities Conducting screenings, assessments, and other nursing services Educating residents on disease prevention, wellness, and health lifestyle practices Maintaining accurate patient records, documentation, and reports in accordance with public health standards and policies Assisting with communicable disease response, follow-up, and investigations as assigned Collaborating with schools, healthcare providers, local agencies, and community partners Working closely with the Indiana Department of Health and ensuring compliance with state and local public health guidelines Assisting with grant-related responsibilities, including documentation, tracking, and reporting requirements Supporting additional nursing and public health duties as assigned by the department Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Indiana Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality Basic computer and documentation skills Knowledge of public health nursing practices preferred Experience with community health, immunization requirements, or public health programs is preferred but not required
