Job Description

Health Advocates Network is currently seeking a Special Education Teacher to work at a facility in Lakeville, MN. These are registry positions with our company.
Pay Rate:
$47.50 / hour Shift(s) 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM Position Details A Special Education Teacher in a resource role at Lakeville Area School District is responsible for assessing student needs, developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and providing specialized instruction in small groups or one-on-one settings. Key duties include adapting general curriculum, managing student behavior, collaborating with general education teachers, parents, and specialists, and tracking student progress to ensure they receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE). Core responsibilities Student assessment and IEP development: Assess academic, social, and emotional needs; develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and accommodations.
Instruction and intervention:
Teach academic, social, and life skills to students with disabilities. Adapt general lessons to meet individual needs and deliver targeted interventions in small groups or one-on-one settings.
Collaboration and communication:
Work closely with general education teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student learning and behavior.
Behavior management:
Manage classroom crises, resolve conflicts, and teach appropriate behavioral strategies.
Progress monitoring:
Track student progress and report to parents and other staff.
Support and preparation:
Assist in preparing instructional materials and may help with tasks like orientations for substitutes or classroom displays. Key skills and qualifications
Communication:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for working with students, parents, and colleagues.
Problem-solving:
Ability to manage classroom crises and adapt teaching methods to meet a wide range of student needs.
Knowledge of special education:
Understanding of legal requirements like FAPE and LRE is crucial.
