Job Description

The Seminole Tribe of Florida's Public Works Department is responsible for providing a variety of services to the residents of The Seminole Tribe. The Department's main functions are to administer and manage the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Seminole Tribe of Florida's infrastructure for roads, water and wastewater distribution and collection systems, facilities, and sanitation services to meet existing and future needs of the Tribal Council and Community.

//tcd.semtribe.com/ Position Summary This is a semi-skilled position located in the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Public Works Department. The incumbent in this position is responsible for identifying, marking, and documenting the location of underground utilities to ensure safe excavation and support construction, maintenance, and repair activities. This role involves reading and interpreting utility maps, using locating equipment to pinpoint underground lines, and communicating findings with contractors, engineers, and project teams. The Utility Locator helps prevent damage to critical infrastructure such as water, sewer, electric, and telecommunications systems by accurately marking their positions in the field. Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and effective communication skills are essential.
Qualifications / Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required. A minimum of three (3) years of experience performing duties involving locating underground utilities, Trimble GPS, GPR and use of various other locating equipment. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License is required. Must have knowledge of safety practices and procedures related to locating utility infrastructure and electrical. Ability to read and interpret utility maps, GIS maps and as-built civil engineering drawings. Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision and direction from management. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to travel and be on call 24 hours, seven (7) days per week, and able to work evenings, weekends, holidays and on declared emergencies.
