Public Works Worker

Duties Maintain and repair city streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, and public infrastructure. Operate and maintain equipment such as backhoes, dump trucks, mowers and tractors. Perform routine inspections of public facilities and coordinate necessary repairs. Help manage water and wastewater systems, including line maintenance and system monitoring. Assist in snow and ice removal, storm cleanup, and other emergency response operations. Support the planning and execution of capital improvement projects and infrastructure upgrades. Maintain accurate logs, reports, and records of maintenance work and equipment usage. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations. Respond to citizen inquires and service requests in a professional and timely manner. Collaborate with other outside contractors as needed. Requirements Proven experience operating machinery. Experience with utility locating using specialized tools or technology. Strong understanding of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and construction sites. Ability to read blueprints or technical diagrams is a plus. Physical stamina to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions. Valid driver's license; commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred but not required. Prior experience working on construction sites or in public works projects is highly desirable. $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
