Pay Rate:
$45-50/hour QA/QC Inspector Position Summary The QA/QC Inspector is responsible for performing daily inspections of ongoing construction activities and coordinating with craft supervision to ensure proper notification and execution of required inspections. This role supports field supervision by helping resolve technical issues, overseeing subcontractor quality activities, and implementing quality control procedures and inspection test plans across all construction activities. The QA/QC Inspector ensures work is completed accurately and effectively to deliver a quality product that meets customer expectations. This position is also responsible for maintaining quality records, daily QC inspection reports, and supporting documentation related to RFIs, NCRs, and other quality processes. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform daily inspections of ongoing construction activities to verify compliance with project specifications and quality standards Coordinate with craft supervision regarding upcoming and ongoing inspections Assist supervision in identifying and resolving technical and quality-related issues Provide oversight of subcontractor quality activities and ensure adherence to project requirements Implement quality control procedures and inspection test plans across all construction activities Support the quality control team in performing quality-related activities and documentation Maintain quality records, daily QC inspection reports, RFIs, NCRs, and other project quality documentation Generate quality reports in accordance with NSC Quality Manual requirements Attend and participate in project meetings related to assigned work activities Coordinate and interface with internal or contracted NDE teams Provide information regarding processes and specifications to craftsmen, supervisors, and project team members Ensure compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and regulations Education & Experience Requirements High school diploma or state/military-approved high school equivalency diploma (GED) required Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an occupational function directly related to welded assemblies fabricated to national or international standards Applicable Education Substitutions Bachelor's degree or higher in Welding Engineering or Welding Technology may substitute for up to four (4) years of experience Associate degree or higher in welding-related or non-welding engineering technology, engineering, or physical sciences may substitute for up to three (3) years of experience Engineering or technical school coursework applicable to welding may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience Trade or vocational coursework related to welding may substitute for up to one (1) year of experience Required Qualifications Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required Minimum of five (5) years of experience with RCSC Specifications, including: Fastener Components Bolted Parts Use of Washers Pre-Installation Verification Installation Inspection Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam Essential Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Basic understanding of construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills Ability to identify and address quality concerns and safety risks Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical manuals Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and schedule inspections and testing activities Effective communication skills with co-workers, supervisors, craftsmen, and project teams Good reading comprehension and documentation skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Commitment to company values, safety policies, and regulatory compliance Preferred Qualifications AWS, ASME, API, and/or AISC endorsements preferred Physical Requirements Must pass a current eye examination demonstrating natural or corrected near-vision acuity of Jaeger J-2 at a minimum distance of 12 inches Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, sit, and lift for extended periods of time Ability to use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 40 pounds as required Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work from platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection Ability to work in varying weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing appropriate PPE Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including: Hard hat Safety glasses/spoggles Ear plugs Masks/respirators High-visibility safety vest Leather gloves Steel-toed work boots
