Job Description

We are seeking a QC Chemist I. This person will conduct quality control analysis on substances to support our Production, Pilot Plant, and R&D groups utilizing quantitative and qualitative analysis. The QC Chemist I will utilize appropriate analytical methodologies and instrumentation to perform all duties. This is an hourly, 12-hour shift position. The QC Chemist I schedule is a day shift with a start time of 6:00am to 6:30pm. This position has the potential to transition into a night shift, from 6:00pm to 6:30am after a sufficient training period. All night shift hours pay a shift differential.
The weekly rotation is:
Week 1: 36 hours worked on Sunday, Wednesday, and Thu Week 2: 48 hours (includes 8 hours of overtime pay) worked on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday Job Responsibilities Performs analytical tests with the guidance of an experienced or Lead Chemist Focuses on final testing, but also performs in-process testing with guidance within 3 months of start Follows work instructions and test methods for product testing under supervision Consults batch records and developmental test methods for pilot plant testing Prepares laboratory standards and reagents Performs analyses safely and participates in safety improvements Performs instrument validations and maintenance with guidance of Instrument Support Technician Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Science with zero to three years of industrial experience Experience Basic wet chemistry experience Experience running experiments in safe manner with proper PPE Experience reviewing data Experience working in controlled environments and glove boxes preferred Quality control experience preferred Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee will be required to wear appropriate PPE at all times.
