QC Inspector

GENERAL SUMMARY

Perform inspections, checks, and tests, of materials, components and finished production pieces.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR SKILLS

Written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of basic shop mathematics Experience in heavy structural fabrication Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings and welding symbols Proficient in effective operation of welding equipment

DUTIES:

Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications. Measure dimensions of products to verify conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers. Read blueprints, data, manuals, or other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required. Record inspection or test data, such as weights, temperatures, grades, and quantities inspected or graded. Mark items with details such as grade or acceptance-rejection status Notify supervisors or other personnel of production problems Recommend necessary corrective actions, based on inspection results.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Adhere to all Southland Steel Fabricator's, Inc. Safety Rules, Policies, and Procedures Maintain orderly and clean work area Attend all required safety meetings Inspect equipment each day to ensure it meets safety standards Must inspect tools daily before each use, to include extension cords Use hand and power tools safely at all times with correct guards in place Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with policy and adequate for specific tasks Wear specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to: Fire/flame resistant clothing Heavy flame-resistant gloves Respirators when welding harmful metals or when ventilation is not adequate Steel/hard toe boots Hearing protection

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

In order to do the job, the following physical requirements are necessary: Ability to stand for long periods of time Ability to occasionally pull, push, carry, or lift tools, equipment or materials 50 lbs. or less Ability to withstand occasional bending, squatting, or crouching Ability to frequently handle (hold, seize, grasp, turn, etc.) tools, equipment, or material Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, to include cold, heat, and humidity
