Quality Assurance (QA)
Specialist Reports To:
Quality Assurance Manager Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is responsible for maintaining and improving the company's food safety and quality management systems. This position's primary focus is documentation control to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and third-party certification standards. The QA Specialist will be heavily involved in preparing for audits and ensuring all documentation is organized, accurate, and audit-ready at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain, organize, and update all quality and food safety documentation in compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. Prepare and coordinate all required documentation for internal, third-party, and regulatory audits, including GFSI-recognized audits (SQF, BRC, FSSC). Serve as a point of contact during audits, ensuring timely and accurate document retrieval. Ensure all records are complete, accurate, and accessible for review at any time. Collaborate with production, operations, and management to collect, review, and verify quality records. Monitor and maintain compliance with PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) requirements and ensure food safety plans are implemented and effective. Support and ensure compliance with HACCP principles. Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) to prepare reports, logs, and audit files. Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating SOPs, work instructions, and other quality-related documents. Participate in and support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes following audit findings or internal investigations. Train staff on documentation requirements and assist with the continuous improvement of document control processes.
Qualifications:
Required:
PCQI Certification (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) 2+ years of experience in quality assurance, food safety, or a related field Strong attention to detail, organization, and recordkeeping skills Ability to work effectively under audit pressure and meet tight deadlines
