Job Description

At Haviland Drainage, we combine quality drainage products and superior service to create an exceptional customer experience. For nearly 60 years, we've remained focused on continually improving the value we bring to our customers, our employees, our community, and our stockholders. We continue to lead the industry forward as we develop innovative products to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers. The Quality Director is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving the quality system in accordance with the requirements of AASHTO and ASTM. This includes, but is not limited to; production and process controls, product quality improvement, quality planning in support of new product development and supplier quality management. The Quality Director promotes continuous improvement using statistical techniques and other accepted quality practices. The quality manager runs the quality department as if they are the owner of the company and makes safety, quality and production the top 3 areas of focus, in the order listed.
Responsibilities:
Attends the daily stretch and bend meeting with the entire shift. Assures that all company Safety Program Policies are being followed at all times. Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators, technicians, and engineers. Maintains product integrity and quality through support of evaluation and disposition of nonconforming materials. Initiates corrective actions and problem solving activities. Implements in-process product inspection standards as needed. Maintains product approvals with state DOTs, municipalities, and public works. Researches and attains product approvals from additional states, municipalities and public works. Reviews collected data to perform statistical analysis and recommend process/product changes to improve quality. Leads quality team, coaching team members and ensuring that quality goals are met.   • recruits, selects, and trains employees as needed Leads investigations into quality concerns and oversees root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
Enforces quality control policies and procedures. Assures compliance to NTPEP rules and guidelines, assists with annual NTPEP audit. Maintains Quality System Manual (QSM). Works with supply chain to establish requirements from external suppliers. Engages in strategic planning and audits of internal and supplier quality systems. Participates in new product development with focus on the execution of quality plans. Designs detention systems and fabricated fittings/structures, provides drawings as needed. Reports product and process quality information and trends on a consistent basis. Develops professional and technical expertise by attending educational workshops/webinars, reviewing professional publications and expanding personal and professional networks. Reviews and revises company installation guide as needed. Offers technical recommendations regarding installation and usage. Communicates company goals and objectives with direct reports. Acts as an equal member and active contributor of the management team, and strives to put the needs and objectives of the larger organization before individual or departmental matters. Understands that, at times, internal discussions will contain sensitive and/or proprietary information. Complete trust and confidentiality is expected and required of this position.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Quality Assurance, Engineering, Science)
  • Proven experience in quality assurance, preferably in a leadership role
  • PE certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of quality control principles and practices
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills to analyze data and identify trends or issues
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
