Job Description

Sunvair, Inc. located in Valencia, CA is a leading FAA- and EASA-certified aerospace MRO specializing in landing gear overhaul and repair for narrow body commercial and military aircraft. We are dedicated to quality excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in everything we do. Currently we are seeking a talented individual for the position of Assistant Manager of Quality Assurance. This role will report directly to the Quality Assurance Manager and supports the overall Quality Management System (QMS) and day-to-day quality operations within the landing gear overhaul facility. This role ensures compliance with FAA, EASA, AS9100, and customer requirements while driving consistency and accuracy in inspections, documentation, and process control. The Assistant Manager serves as a hands-on leader who mentors quality personnel, supports internal and external audits, and partners closely with operations, engineering, and production teams to maintain the highest standards of product integrity and safety. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in maintaining and continually improving the company's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with FAA Part 145, EASA, AS9100, and customer specifications.
  • Mentor quality inspectors and QA support staff engaged in the inspection, measurement, and documentation of landing gear assemblies, subassemblies, and components.
  • Review and approve inspection reports, work orders, and nonconformance documentation for completeness and regulatory compliance.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits; track and verify timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action investigations related to nonconforming material, customer complaints, and audit findings.
  • Monitor key quality metrics such as defect rates, rework trends, and identify areas for process improvement.
  • Ensure proper calibration, control, and maintenance of precision measuring equipment and tooling.
  • Provide ongoing training and guidance to inspection and production teams on quality procedures, standards, and technical requirements.
  • Maintain document control, training records, and traceability documentation in accordance with QMS requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to evaluate and approve repairs, deviations, and special process documentation. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Aviation Maintenance, Quality, or related technical discipline preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in aerospace MRO, specifically landing gear overhaul and repair operations.
  • Knowledge of FAA and EASA Part 145 regulations, AS9100 standards, and OEM technical data.
  • Experience with precision inspection equipment, measurement methods, and calibration management systems.
  • Strong understanding of landing gear structures, components, materials, and special processes (e.g., NDT, chrome plating, HVOF, shot peen).
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis tools (5S) and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and quality management applications. Work Environment
  • Office and shop floor environment within an FAA-certified landing gear repair station.
  • Regular interaction with production, inspection, and engineering teams.

$65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
