Job Description

General Purpose:
Seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quality Control Inspector, focused in heavy industrial construction, to ensure that all construction projects adhere to client and company quality standards and comply with all relevant regulations and codes. The Quality Control Inspector will play a critical role in overseeing the fabrication and field installation by coordinating, conducting and recording examinations while identifying and resolving quality issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance of the pipe fabrication shop and the field sites with McCarl's "Quality Control Manual" for ASME and NBIC Code work. Assist the Manager with the yearly review of the
ASME/NBIC
"Quality Control Manual" for code compliance. Help develop and implement quality control procedures for the company. Administer Welder Certification Tests. Maintain the Welder Continuity Logs. Maintain all quality control records. Review customer QA/QC requirements and implement additional procedures, if necessary. Interact with the customer during QA inspections and audits. Oversee the quality of subcontractors working for McCarl's Coordinate and oversee third party NDT inspectors performing work for McCarl's Inc. Inspect welded joints of work in progress and/or completed units for; visible defects, correct dimensions, weld penetration, and conformance with client specifications. Observe techniques and performance of welders working for McCarl's. Witness and document pressure testing activities. May perform non-destructive testing and inspection of fabricated and installed piping. Establish and maintain positive, productive working relationships with other McCarl's Inc. departments and with customers, vendors and third parties. Must be cognizant of QC budget for the project(s) assigned and assist in managing that budget over the project's lifespan. Expedite Vendors and the Client (if Client is procuring and providing project materials) to keep commodities moving on schedule, and report if any possible delays so proactive countermeasures can be employed. Work with Supervisors to ensure that all personnel are trained in safety procedures. Have the ability to properly interpret codes and industry standards. Prepare documentation for submittal to customers. Effectively communicate and project the principles of "The McCarl Way®". Perform other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications:
High school degree or its equivalent. Post secondary and/or trade background preferred. Combination of 5-10 years' experience in welding and inspection. Hold a current and valid AWS CWI certification. Level
II NDE - PT, MT
preferred. Working knowledge of NDE methodologies a plus Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards including
AWS, ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.8, API 1104
a must. Thorough knowledge of pipe and plate fabrication practices. Ability to work independently without direct supervision (proactive, self-starter). Efficient time management skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to maintain project schedule. Ability to keep accurate digital records. Ability to read isometric and erection drawings. Aptitude for evaluation and analysis, problem solving planning and organization. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with all levels in the company. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, general business professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, other employees and the general public. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Intermediate in computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to climb and work from heights. Ability to frequently lift objects that are 50 pounds or less.
Travel Requirement:
This position requires >50% over-the-road travel with overnight stays to assigned project locations.
Physical Requirements:
Will regularly sit, use of hands/fingers, reach w/ hands/arms. Will frequently stand, talk/hear, repetitive motions. Will occasionally walk, grasp, climb/balance, bend/stoop/kneel/squat/crawl. Lift/Carry up to 20lbs. Push/Pull up to 10lbs. NearFar vision.
Work Environment:
Will regularly be in field and office environments.
