Job Description

Quality Control Supervisor/Technician - Food Manufacturing (Costco Meat Plant) We are looking for a qualified Quality Control Supervisor/Technician to join our team at the Costco Meat Plant in Morris, IL! This employee will be responsible for sampling and testing raw meat, conducting inspections of food processing plant, performing line checks and ensuring compliance with the USDA and company requirements. Oversee employees, coordinate activities and uphold food safety, quality, employees safety and productivity standards. Responsibilities
  • Observes employee performance to determine that proper department procedures are followed.
  • Coordinates employee breaks, lunches, and side tasks. Enters employee schedules into computer. Sets work pace of the department to optimize productivity.
  • Conduct inspections of product, processing equipment and facilities.
  • Test samples from production for quality and microbiological characteristics, including plating, reading and recording plates, and pathogen testing using PCR technology.
  • Document results with complete and accurate information.
  • Follow HACCP system and complete required documentation.
  • Communicate with personnel from all departments including management and inspection agency personnel.
  • Provide training, encouragement, coaching, and feedback to employees.
Promotes teamwork and accountability among employees. Interactively monitors employee performance and drafts and participates in employee reviews. Implements and upholds proper procedures and general safety procedures and standards. Drafts and participates in presentation of employee recommendations to manager for further interviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work schedule is Monday-Friday and Saturday depending on business needs.
1:00PM-9:30PM with occasional flexibility required. Qualifications Bachelors Degree in Food Science/Microbiology or related field required. 1-3 years food microbiology or food processing quality assurance laboratory experienced preferred. Detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
