Shift Reports To:
Quality Control Manager Position Summary The QC Fabrication inspector is responsible for inspecting the assembly and fabrication of structural steel components to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards. This role combines hands-on the shop work with quality inspection, requiring precision, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities Check assembled steel components using tools like tape measures weld gauges and other measuring tools. Verify dimensions and tolerances using calipers, tape measures, squares, and other measuring tools. Inspect fabricated components for defects, misalignment, or nonconformance to drawings. Interpret and follow technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders. Collaborate with welders, machine operators, supervisors and production managers to ensure quality standards are met. Inspect necessary rework or adjustments to bring parts into compliance. Document inspections of fabricated components for QC records Maintain fabrication tools and equipment to ensure proper operation. Adhere to company safety standards and OSHA requirements. Cross train in other QC areas Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred. 4+ years of fabrication experience in a manufacturing or welding environment. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings. Proficiency with fabrication tools (cutting torches, grinders, saws, measuring equipment). Experience with quality control processes and documentation preferred. Experience with AWS D.1.1 and AISC is preferred.
