Job Title:
Quality Control Technician Job Description The Quality Control Technician supports the Quality Assurance and Manufacturing teams by inspecting, testing, and monitoring products and processes to ensure they meet internal standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry regulations. This full-time role focuses on maintaining high product quality, reducing defects, and supporting continuous improvement by identifying, documenting, and helping to resolve quality issues in a timely and accurate manner. Responsibilities Perform in-process, first article, final, and receiving inspections using standard measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges. Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of parts, assemblies, and finished products to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality standards. Carry out functional testing using gauges, test equipment, and specialized tools to confirm product performance and reliability. Accurately complete and maintain inspection records, test results, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) in a clear and organized manner. Assist in preparing, updating, and revising quality documentation, including work instructions, inspection criteria, and control plans. Maintain calibration records and verify that inspection and test equipment remain calibrated and in proper working condition. Monitor production lines for quality issues, identify trends, and support root cause investigations when defects or non-conformances occur. Support adherence to applicable quality system standards and industry regulations, ensuring products meet customer and regulatory requirements before shipment. Participate in problem-solving activities using methods such as 5 Whys and Root Cause Analysis to identify and address underlying issues. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, 5S, and Kaizen events, to enhance product quality and process efficiency. Communicate quality issues promptly to production, engineering, and quality teams, and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs). Provide feedback and basic training to operators on quality standards, inspection techniques, and proper use of measurement tools. Assist in internal and external quality audits, including customer or third-party audits, by providing documentation and inspection data. Operate and interact with industrial and CNC equipment as needed to support quality inspection and manufacturing processes. Work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple inspection tasks and priorities effectively. Essential Skills High school diploma or GED. At least 2 years of experience in a quality role within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in using measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately. Familiarity with quality systems and statistical process control (SPC) concepts. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inspection and documentation. Analytical thinking skills to support problem-solving and root cause investigations. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and use of quality management systems. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Capability to work independently and manage time and tasks with minimal supervision. Comfort working around industrial equipment and performing quality inspections on manufactured parts and assemblies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree or technical certification in quality, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred. Experience with CNC equipment or machine operation is beneficial. Understanding of industry quality standards and frameworks is an advantage. Experience participating in Lean, 5S, or Kaizen continuous improvement activities. Strong communication skills to collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams. Willingness to learn, grow, and develop within the company. Motivation and curiosity to build skills in quality inspection and manufacturing processes. Work Environment This role is based in a new, climate-controlled manufacturing facility designed to support comfort and safety throughout the workday. You work around industrial equipment and CNC machinery while performing inspections and tests on production parts and assemblies. The pace is fast, and you are expected to work independently while coordinating with production, engineering, and quality teams as needed. Standard measurement tools, gauges, test equipment, and computer systems form part of the daily toolkit. The environment emphasizes organization, cleanliness, and adherence to quality and safety practices. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morristown, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.80 - $17.85/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
