Job Description

The Quality Technician is responsible for inspection and compliance verification of incoming raw materials (steel coil/bar, plastics, wood), in-process production, and finished goods. This role works within OTI's Quality Control Manual and applicable HUD, ASTM, and state-level regulatory requirements, and contributes to problem-solving, data analysis, and quality reporting. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform incoming inspections using micrometers, calipers, coating thickness gauges, and ultrasonic thickness gauges. Verify mill certs and material documentation against PO, ASTM, and drawing requirements.
  • Perform process and product audits throughout the plant and distribution center.
  • Write and maintain SOPs, Work Instructions, Quality Alerts, and Visual Aids.
  • Immediately communicate quality issues to affected production, engineering, and management personnel.
  • Perform product sorts on questionable raw materials, in-process production, finished goods, and returned materials.
  • Participate in product testing and validation using load cells, test jigs, and fixtures.
  • Perform data entry of inspection results, quality metrics, audit results, ERP transactions, and customer complaint tracking.
  • Participate in root cause analysis including 5 Why, Fishbone Diagrams, and Corrective Action Reports.
  • Monitor and audit calibration status of measurement tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Support shipping/receiving quality verification, including photo documentation and audit log maintenance.
  • Promote a safe and productive workplace.

Education / Experience
/
Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with good time management and planning ability.
  • Ability to stay focused and on task with minimal direction.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to balance multiple simultaneous duties.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Problem solving and analytical ability.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, tape measures).
  • Prior experience performing inspections or quality checks in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings or material specifications.
Pay:
$19.00 - $24.00 per hour
