Job Title:
Quality Technician 1st / 2nd Shift $23 - $27 Job Description The Quality Technician ensures that precision metal components such as manifolds, spindles, jacks, hubs, and related parts consistently meet internal and customer quality standards. You will perform detailed inspections, prepare complete PPAP documentation, and support continuous improvement initiatives within a metal manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform dimensional and visual inspections on metal components using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of machined and fabricated metal parts to verify compliance with specifications. Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure products meet customer and industry requirements. Prepare and submit complete PPAP packages (Levels 1-5) in accordance with customer and industry standards. Maintain and update quality documentation, including control plans and process flow diagrams, to ensure accurate and current records. Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement effective corrective actions. Support internal and external audits, including customer and industry-standard audits, by providing documentation and participating in audit activities. Assist in root cause analysis for nonconformances and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence. Monitor, analyze, and report on quality metrics and trends to support continuous improvement initiatives. Perform visual inspections on manifolds, spindles, jacks, hubs, and other precision metal components to identify defects or deviations. Participate in continuous improvement activities aimed at enhancing product quality and process efficiency. Essential Skills Hands-on experience in metal manufacturing and inspection of precision metal components such as manifolds, spindles, jacks, and hubs. Proficiency in performing dimensional and visual inspections using precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and CMM. Experience preparing and submitting complete PPAP packages (Levels 1-5) in line with customer and industry requirements. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications. Strong experience in quality control and quality assurance within a manufacturing environment. Experience conducting incoming, in-process, and final inspections of machined and fabricated metal parts. Ability to maintain and update quality documentation, including control plans and process flow diagrams. Experience supporting internal and external audits, including customer and industry-standard audits. Skill in assisting with root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Ability to monitor and report on quality metrics and trends. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in inspection and documentation. Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with production, engineering, and suppliers. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with industry quality standards and audit requirements such as IATF-related practices. Experience working with quality documentation systems and structured quality processes. Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Union, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
