The Radiology Operations Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operational, administrative, and quality performance of the radiology division. This role ensures that all radiology services, both onsite and teleradiology, are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with clinical, regulatory, and client requirements. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator and problem-solver who can coordinate across departments, manage operational teams, and work closely with radiologists, hospital clients, and technology vendors to maintain smooth workflows and high service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership Oversee daily operations of radiology services, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery across all shifts. Coordinate scheduling, staffing, and workload distribution for radiologists and support staff. Manage onboarding and credentialing processes for new radiologists and facilities in collaboration with HR and Credentialing teams. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency and consistency across the organization. Monitor and maintain turnaround time (TAT) targets, coverage compliance, and client-specific requirements. Quality and Compliance Collaborate with the Clinical Standards / Quality Committee to ensure ongoing peer review, compliance, and quality improvement initiatives. Track and address quality metrics, discrepancies, and incident reports. Ensure adherence to HIPAA, ACR, and other regulatory standards. Work with the IT team to ensure
PACS/RIS
systems operate reliably and securely. Client and Radiologist Relations Serve as a primary operational contact for hospital and imaging center clients. Address service issues and ensure timely resolution in collaboration with Account Management. Support business development and client retention through operational excellence. Maintain strong relationships with radiologists to ensure engagement, feedback, and schedule alignment. Performance Management & Reporting Prepare operational performance reports, including TAT, volume, productivity, and quality trends. Identify and address inefficiencies or gaps in process and resource allocation. Collaborate with Finance to manage departmental budgets, costs, and staffing levels. Strategic Initiatives Partner with leadership to support expansion into new facilities, states, and service lines. Drive automation, AI integration, and workflow optimization projects. Support organizational scalability by implementing best practices in operations and technology.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (Master's preferred). 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in radiology operations, imaging management, or teleradiology services . Strong understanding of
PACS/RIS
systems, credentialing workflows, and regulatory compliance. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proven ability to manage multiple teams and projects in a high-volume environment. Experience working with radiologists, hospitals, and diagnostic imaging centers preferred.
