SUMMARY:
The Intervention Specialist provides leadership in the implementation of the district's literacy framework by delivering targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions to high school students. This role emphasizes data-driven collaboration with staff and administrators to monitor academic growth and refine instructional strategies that support college and career readiness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills. Deliver Tier 2 and Tier 3 literacy interventions to students at the secondary level. Assist teachers and staff with the collection and analysis of data to identify student needs and set learning targets. Provide training and collaborative consultation to both teaching staff and paraprofessionals. Facilitate the building's tiered intervention program, including student scheduling and progress monitoring. Attend Multi Disciplinary Team and departmental meetings to share data and progress. Collaborate and plan with LAI department to ensure explicit instruction and best practices are implemented. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:
Experience in reading interventions.
Preferred:
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with students with reading difficulties.
Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation. Valid Minnesota teaching license.
Required Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of reading intervention strategies. Knowledge of the data practices utilized within the RTI (Response to Intervention) framework. READ Act required specific, evidence based literacy training.
Required Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills for consulting with parents, teachers, and administration. Ability to prepare, organize, and maintain intervention materials for the building.

The position further requires the mental acuity to consult collaboratively with different stakeholder groups.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The work is primarily performed within a secondary school building environment where the employee must interact regularly with students, teachers, and building principals to promote positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships. The position requires the ability to work collaboratively in both classroom and office settings to facilitate the district's literacy intervention program.
