Job Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The position will model, coach, observe, and assist personnel at the school sites to use Research Based reading strategies effectively for instruction and assessment. He/she will facilitate learning activities in the classroom using reading strategies proven to be effective in helping students to achieve in the area of reading.
QUALIFICATIONS
An earned Master's Degree and five (5) or more years exemplary teaching experience in Reading. Must have the ability to model reading lessons and assist teachers with Reading Professional Development strategies. A knowledge of effective reading strategies.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and provide modeling, coaching, planning, and observation with teachers using effective reading strategies on a weekly basis. Assist teachers and administrators with the implementation of new instructional strategies, technology, reading assessments, Comprehensive Curriculum, and reading interventions. Coordinate training with Professional Development Staff and Administration. Meet with the Professional Development trainer and administrators to promote collaboration. Work with the district supervisors and school improvement team to assist in accomplishing goals, objectives, and activities indicated on School Improvement Plan. Maintain a file of information concerning Professional Development strategies, scheduled visits with teachers, and progress towards meeting school goals and objectives. Work with school administrators and teachers to identify school and classroom strengths and weaknesses. Participate in whole faculty study group sessions held at schools as requested. Assist with planning and implementation of family nights to share reading strategies and offer ways parents can assist their children with reading instruction at home. Maintain a high level of involvement in professional development and monitoring of its use. Assist school with analyzing school data and plan for improvement using strengths and weaknesses identified. Monitor use of reading interventions and math assessments. Work with reading coaches to effective implement reading strategies. Model effective strategies for struggling readers.
