Recreation Instructor I - Swim

JOB Do you love teaching and being in the water? Join our team as a Swim Instructor and help others gain confidence and skills in the pool! We're looking for Swim Instructors to join us for the summer months at Whitmore Pool. Training and certification are provided. As a Swim Instructor for the Town of Mammoth Lakes, you will provide entry-level instruction for a variety of aquatic classes, lessons, programs, and activities. You will be responsible for observing the swimming pool for potential emergencies and safety hazards, and for performing general cashier duties. You must be available to work a varied schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Supervision ReceivedReceives immediate supervision from the Site Coordinator and the Assistant Site Coordinator. Indirect supervision received from the Recreation Supervisor.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties include, but are not limited to: Maintain close and constant surveillance of persons in and around the pool for potential emergencies and safety hazards Enforce rules and regulations. Instruct a variety of aquatic classes, lessons, and programs including swimming, lifesaving, and water safety.

Maintain a variety of daily checklists and maintenance records.

Issue season passes and register pupils for swimming lessons and aquatic programs.

Accept payment of fees; prepare and issue receiptsMaintain records and files.

Perform routine pool and facility maintenance.

Perform related duties as assigned.
