ASAP pending background check and credentialing Seeking an experienced Recreational Therapist to provide services at a residential behavioral health treatment facility serving Native American adolescents in Pueblo of Acoma, New Mexico. This position supports youth in a structured treatment environment focused on recovery, emotional wellness, and long term success. Position Overview The Recreational Therapist will provide individual and group therapeutic recreation services for adolescents ages 13 to 17 with behavioral health and substance abuse treatment needs. The role includes treatment planning, therapeutic activities, outdoor programming, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary care team. Responsibilities Conduct recreational therapy assessments upon admission Develop individualized recreation treatment plans Lead therapeutic group and individual recreation activities Plan outdoor and adventure based programming including hiking, camping, and fitness activities Document patient progress and treatment updates Participate in treatment team meetings and care planning Support trauma informed and culturally relevant programming Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Joint Commission standards, and facility policies Requirements Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation Therapy National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, NCTRC Minimum 1 year of experience working with youth in clinical or therapeutic settings Experience with behavioral health, trauma informed care, or substance abuse treatment preferred Strong communication and teamwork skills Facility Information This is a 21 bed residential treatment facility located approximately 60 miles west of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
