$45,670- $51,000, commensurate with experience plus excellent benefits Overview The Utah Conservation Corps (UCC) Regional Coordinator (Program Coordinator I) is primarily responsible for supervision of field crews, oversight and delivery of seasonal trainings, and logistical support.
- 45% Supervises field office staff, AmeriCorps members, student employees and volunteers Completes mid-term and final evaluations for all Field Logistics Technicians, Crew Leaders, and Crew Members Ensures compliance with UCC, AmeriCorps, and USU policies, including enforcing disciplinary procedures when necessary Oversees the day-to-day management of conservation projects Ensures that all project reports, member evaluations, data tracking forms and any other field office specific paperwork is completed each quarter and submitted on time Supports specialty crews Provides technical, logistical, and administrative support to field crews Conducts regular risk management and policy audits which includes collecting and reporting data Serves as a role model, resource, mediator, and advisor for crews while maintaining professional conduct Assists Operations Coordinator and Projects Coordinator in project and training scheduling Performs quality control checks on crew-collected project data, safety forms, vehicle mileage and crew project hours Trains field logistics technicians, crew leaders and members•25% Trains and supervises up to 180 seasonal AmeriCorps members including: Field Logistics Technicians, Crew Leaders, and Crew Members.
- and post-project planning and organization Chainsaw use and safety Critical incident scenarios Project Rig-up and de-rig procedures Vehicle inspections and maintenance Herbicide use, storage, and disposal Outdoor living skills, including Leave No Trace Food storage, meal preparation, and water purification Interpersonal skills including leadership, conflict resolution and constructive feedback Facilitates technical skills training for field crews, including the safe and proper use of chainsaws, crosscut saws, tool maintenance, vehicle maintenance, working/hiking/camping in remote and backcountry settings and white-water rafting Evaluates technical skill retention during field site visits Serve as liaison between project partners and UCC to ensure efficient and effective project implementation•20% Collaborates with project partners to plan equipment needs, work schedules, site visits, training needs, and data management Develops and maintains Emergency Response Plans for all projects and trainings Compiles project data to create and submit reports to project partners and UCC administrative staff Attends weekly program staff meeting to report on field crews and projects Participates in UCC's strategic planning meetings Nominates members and projects for awards Collaborates with UCC Leadership Team to develop and implement projects Reviews UCC policies & expectations Collaborates with Projects & Partners Coordinator with Disaster Deployments and logistics Manage, maintain, and purchase tools and equipment•10% Manages inventory and develops equipment checkout systems Purchases and maintains tools, equipment, gear, and first aid supplies including proper storage Report monthly on mileage tracking spreadsheet for crew vehicles to ensure expenses are routed to appropriate accounts Manages, organizes and maintains the physical office/shop space for the regional office Other duties as assigned Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Four years of conservation corps work or related experience with at least 1 year of leadership responsibilities OR an equivalent combination of education and experience As part of the four years of experience/education listed above, experience supervising and training employees and one year of AmeriCorps or Environmental/Natural Resource volunteer experience USFS B Faller Chainsaw certification or higher Demonstrated ability to work, mentor, and lead diverse youth and young adult populations Ability to complete physically demanding conservation projects in remote locations with variable weather conditions Knowledge of field training planning and execution along with a willingness to seek out and attend technical and professional skills trainings annually At least First Aid/CPR or Wilderness First Aid certified and a willingness to certify as a First Aid/CPR instructor Experience and understanding of working within the confines of State and Federal regulations, policies and process. Knowledge and experience working with land management agencies in theIntermountain West Preferred Qualifications:
Trail building, layout and maintenance experience and the ability to develop and implement training courses for members Professional chainsaw and Cross-cut Saw experience and training development Chainsaw fleet management experience Training, supervisory and or teaching experience: including curriculum development Mapping programs and data collection experience Bachelor's degree in environmental studies, environmental education, conservation, or a related fieldKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
