JOB DESCRIPTION
The Regional Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing sanitation programs and sanitation team performance at regional processing facilities in Washington and Georgia. Reporting to the Senior Food Safety Manager, this role ensures sanitation practices are executed in accordance with company food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and the sanitation best practices. This position works closely with plant operations, maintenance, and Food Safety & Quality teams to ensure sanitation programs effectively support food safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. The Regional Sanitation Supervisor will supervise sanitation personnel, verify sanitation effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement in sanitation processes and hygienic design across assigned facilities.
JOB DUTIES
Sanitation Program Leadership Supervise and coordinate sanitation activities across regional facilities in Washington and Georgia. Ensure sanitation procedures are implemented and executed in accordance with established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). Monitor sanitation effectiveness through verification activities including ATP testing, visual inspections, and allergen control procedures where applicable. Ensure sanitation schedules are effectively aligned with production operations to maintain hygienic processing environments. Team Supervision & Development Provide direct supervision, coaching, and development to sanitation team members at assigned facilities. Train sanitation personnel on proper cleaning procedures, chemical handling, sanitation tools, and hygienic practices. Promote adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and workplace safety standards. Support staffing coordination, scheduling, and performance management of sanitation personnel. Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance Support the Food Safety & Quality Assurance program by ensuring sanitation activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements and company policies. Maintain sanitation programs aligned with regulations from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration U.S. Department of Agriculture Assist with internal audits and third-party certification audits including programs such as Safe Quality Food Institute PrimusGFS Ensure sanitation documentation and verification records are maintained and audit-ready. Sanitation Verification & Environmental Monitoring Support Conduct pre-operational inspections to verify equipment and facility cleanliness. Support environmental monitoring programs by ensuring sanitation corrective actions are implemented when needed. Partner with Food Safety leadership to validate sanitation procedures and implement corrective actions where necessary. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve sanitation efficiency, hygienic equipment design, and cleaning effectiveness. Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to address sanitation challenges and improve cleanability of equipment and infrastructure. Evaluate sanitation tools, chemicals, and processes to enhance sanitation performance and cost efficiency. Documentation & Reporting Maintain sanitation records including pre-operational inspection logs, sanitation verification records, and corrective action documentation. Track sanitation performance metrics and provide regular updates to the Senior Food Safety Manager. Assist with investigation and documentation of sanitation- related deviations or food safety incidents.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities across geographically dispersed operations. Strong leadership, communication, training, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of sanitation chemicals, cleaning systems, and hygienic practices. Capable of working in cross functional teams that may be internal or external to Bolthouse. Ability to manage multi-site food safety programs and complex investigations. Ability to collaborate effectively with operations, maintenance, and food safety teams Computer proficiency: word processing, spreadsheets, internet research, databases. Excellent English communication, writing and reading skills required. Ability to speak Spanish desired, but not mandatory.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Equivalent sanitation leadership experience in food manufacturing may be considered in lieu of formal education. Experience supervising sanitation teams in a processing environment preferred. Strong understanding of sanitation practices in food processing environments Experience supporting food safety programs such as HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation verification programs Familiarity with sanitation verification tools including ATP testing and environmental monitoring programs. Candidates must have a verifiable history of safe vehicle operation and meet company standards for driving eligibility. This includes maintaining a clean driving record, which will be verified through a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ability to speak, read & write Spanish fluently. Bachelor s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Biology, or related field preferred. OSHA 10-hour certification HACCP Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Certification
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Environmental exposure -cold/wet/dry conditions (34° Fahrenheit or below/subzero and warm temperature above 90° Fahrenheit), will work in the warehouse building and, in all plants (indoor and outdoor) Exposure to mechanical parts that vary in temperature from freezing hot temperatures in excess to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Exposure to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical current, and chemicals. Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, using 3-point contact on a regular basis Ability to use hands and arms to grasp, manipulate, and handle scanning objects in one position or in a repetitive motion for an extended period of time. Ability to stand for long periods of time Support weekends and holidays as needed. Ability to travel to regional locations, out of state
HOURS & WORKDAYS
2nd Shift during the Washington season (6:00 pm - 2:00 am) Monday through Saturday, when business requires before/after hours, holidays, and weekends, will be mandatory. Additional hours, weekend, and schedule flexibility may be required during peak production periods. 3rd Shift during the Georgia season (9:00 pm - 6:30am) Monday through Saturday, when business requires before/after hours, holidays, and weekends, will be mandatory.
