  • Job Description
  • The Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for children while supporting the overall operations of the childcare centre.
The RECE works collaboratively with the Site Supervisor, Director, Pathways Resource Teachers, Support Facilitators, Board of Directors, parents, volunteers, and call-in staff. The RECE reports directly to the Site Supervisor and supports the delivery of high-quality childcare programming in accordance with licensing regulations, centre policies, and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • Child Supervision & Care
  • Actively supervise children at all times and ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Support the developmental needs of all children, including those with special needs and Individual Plans.
  • Maintain required staff-to-child ratios and ensure children are never left unattended. Program Planning & Implementation
  • Plan and implement daily and weekly programming based on the centre?s Program Statement and Emergent Curriculum principles.
  • Promote the four foundations of

Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement, and Expression.
  • Document children?s learning and create Learning Stories.
  • Set up engaging learning environments with activity centres such as art, sensory play, literacy, science, dramatic play, and gross/fine motor activities. Health, Safety & Licensing Compliance
  • Follow the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and all applicable licensing requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment and ensure toys and materials are disinfected regularly.
  • Promote proper hygiene practices and follow centre safety procedures, including fire drills and playground safety checks. Child Health & Incident Reporting
  • Administer minor First Aid when required.
  • Complete accident reports and communicate with parents when incidents occur.
  • Report any serious occurrences, injuries, or concerns regarding a child?s well-being to the Supervisor immediately. Classroom Operations & Team Collaboration
  • Assist with classroom setup, cleaning, and organization.
  • Communicate with families regarding children?s activities and development.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, resource teachers, parents, and volunteers.
  • Support substitute staff by explaining routines, policies, and expectations.
  • Qualifications
  • Registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
  • Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification
  • Food Handler?s Certificate (if applicable)
  • Schedule
  • Monday to Friday
  • Hours between 7:00 AM ? 5:00 PM
  • Schedule determined by the Site Supervisor
  • Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Wage:
    $25.53/hour
Wage Enhancement:
  • $2.00/hour Lambton County Local Wage Enhancement Grant
  • Paid holidays, emergency/personal days, and bereavement leave, along with vacation pay in accordance with employment standards.
  • Professional development support, including a paid annual PD day and reimbursement for one certification renewal (e.g., First Aid or RECE).
  • Additional workplace benefits, including paid staff meetings, provided lunches, and paid days during unexpected centre closures (e.
g., inclement weather).
Pay:
Up to $27.53 per hour
