Job Description

Rivers Health is seeking a full-time RN in the Emergency Room. Provides patient care on the nursing process and interdisciplinary collaboration.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time. Performs initial assessment of patient. Formulates a plan of care and nursing diagnosis based on the assessment. Considers emotional and spiritual as well as physical health. Assumes responsibility and accountability for overall quality of patient care. Ensures patient care is given according to the proficiency level of personnel while retaining accountability for duties delegated. Respects patient privacy rights and values of individual patients and provides care accordingly. Provides guidance to all personnel in their respective duties. Ensures cleaning, stocking, and quality control duties are accomplished. Ensures equipment needed to provide quality care is available. Ensures any malfunctioning equipment is labeled appropriately and sent to Biomed. Performs on-going nursing assessments. Utilizes assessment data to plan, revise, and update patient plan of care. Participates in on-going evaluation of employees. Keeps Unit Coordinator/Supervisor, Patient Care Supervisors and/or Risk Manager apprised of special concerns regarding quality, cost effective care, and risk management issues. Completes all annual competencies. Performs other duties that may be assigned. Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook. Performs nursing care in a safe and timely manner according to hospital policies, procedures, and philosophy. Accurate documentation of care. Provides patient education and discharge planning in collaboration with other disciplines. Assists with orientation of new employees. Assures emergency equipment and supplies are available. Assumes responsibility for safe-guarding medications and narcotics. Safely administers medications with appropriate monitoring. Must be able to cross-train to other units. Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills. Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration. Participates in unit meetings. Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING
Graduate of a school of nursing with current WV license. BCLS required.
WORK EXPERIENCE
One (1) year nursing experience preferred in area assigned.
