36 weeks Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg) adult and pediatric care to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients across a variety of clinical settings, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal health outcomes. Your expertise will support patients recovering from surgery, managing acute and chronic illnesses, and receiving specialized treatments such as infusion therapy, wound care, and medication administration. Responsibilities Perform thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations to determine care needs. Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform catheter care following aseptic techniques and safety protocols. Monitor patients' conditions continuously using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner to document care accurately. Assist with diagnostic procedures including laboratory specimen collection, phlebotomy, and imaging procedures like sonography or mammography when applicable. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans incorporating pain management, trauma medicine, infectious disease control, and specialty areas such as geriatrics or pediatrics. Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, medication administration, discharge instructions, and health coaching strategies. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while maintaining meticulous medical records and documentation for legal and billing purposes. Qualifications Valid RN license with current registration in the state of practice. Proven experience in medical-surgical units with exposure to adult and pediatric patient populations. Critical care experience including ICU or Level I/II trauma center background highly preferred. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for efficient documentation. Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical terminology to support accurate recordkeeping. Skilled in performing advanced procedures like suturing, tube feeding management, ventilator support, ostomy care, and wound management. Strong understanding of infection control practices along with aseptic techniques. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is advantageous. Ability to handle emergency situations including triage assessments and acute pain management effectively. Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient-centered care across diverse clinical environments such as outpatient clinics, inpatient units, home care settings or assisted living facilities.
