Director of Nursing (DON) Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and coordinating nursing care for residents in a skilled nursing facility in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and facility policies. The RN ensures quality clinical outcomes, supervises nursing staff, and promotes a safe and therapeutic environment for residents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident care in accordance with individualized care plans and physician orders Perform ongoing resident assessments and document clinical findings accurately and timely Administer medications and treatments in compliance with facility protocols and regulatory standards Monitor resident conditions and promptly report significant changes to physicians and the interdisciplinary team Supervise and direct the activities of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) Participate in care plan development, updates, and interdisciplinary team meetings Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including infection control and safety standards Maintain accurate and complete medical records in the electronic medical record system Respond to emergencies and provide appropriate clinical interventions Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed Communicate effectively with residents, families, physicians, and staff Qualifications Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Washington Graduate of an accredited nursing program Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) Previous experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or post-acute care preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills Ability to effectively supervise and lead nursing staff Knowledge of regulatory requirements for skilled nursing facilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in electronic medical records systems Working Conditions Work is performed in a healthcare setting with exposure to infectious diseases and medical conditions Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs with assistance) Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations Scheduled shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Employment Status Full-time, part-time, and PRN positions available Compensation and Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience Benefits available for eligible employees, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement options
