Position Purpose:
The Nurse (RN) in our inpatient SUD (detox/res) clinic plays a vital role in providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients. This position requires a nurse who is dedicated to supporting individuals through their recovery journey, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care that addresses both the physical and psychological aspects of eating disorders.
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
1.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED with completed nursing program. AS, BS, or BSN preferred. 2.
Experience:
Experience in a mental health, psychiatric, or eating disorder setting preferred. 3.
Certification/Licensure:
Clear and Current and valid nursing license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Florida. CPR/AED/First Aid and/or BLS certification and required to maintain. 4. Training and Knowledge Required at
Time of Hire:
Knowledge of addiction and mental health issues and complications. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 5.
Age Specific Individuals Served/Responsibility:
Adults (18+ years) 6.

Local Background (Approved AHCA Level 2 screening required). 7.

Per Diem Position Competencies:
1. Completes the following documentation within 24 hours of the patient/Client admission to the program:
  • Nursing Assessment
  • Pre-screen Testing
  • HIV/TB Risk Screen
  • Patient Health Examination
  • Criteria for admission Form (if Detox Admit).
  • Obtain and follow Physician Admission Orders.
2. Conduct POC (point of care cup urinalysis), pregnancy, and breathalyzer test. Provide direct nursing care to patients, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, perform EKGs, and managing IVs as required. 4. Know and maintain professional communication skills: verbal, written, and non-verbal communication 5. Understand and maintains the highest level of HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) standards
Position Duties, Responsibilities, and Tasks:
1.
Specific:
Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and mental health, identifying any changes in their condition. Collaborate with dietitians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to implement individualized care plans. Support patients with meal supervision, ensuring adherence to prescribed meal plans and providing encouragement and support. Participate in the development and updating of comprehensive treatment plans, including medical, nutritional, and therapeutic interventions. Administer and document prescribed treatments and therapies in accordance with clinic protocols. Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, medications, and strategies for managing symptoms and promoting recovery. Monitor and document patients' progress, including physical health metrics, mental health status, and treatment compliance. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring all care provided is thoroughly documented. Report any concerns or changes in a patient's condition to the healthcare team and participate in case discussions and reviews. Respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies, providing first aid, administering emergency medications, and coordinating care with the broader team. Utilize de-escalation techniques to manage situations where patients may become distressed or non-compliant. Provide education to patients on the importance of following their treatment plan and help them understand their condition. Offer emotional support and counseling to patients, helping them navigate the challenges of recovery. Facilitate group therapy sessions or educational workshops as needed. Work closely with other members of the healthcare team to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to patient care. Participate in team meetings, contributing insights and observations to inform treatment decisions. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times. Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain nursing competencies and stay current with best practices in eating disorder treatment. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and safety. 2.
