Job Description

Category Schools - RN Nurse Job Type Contract Embark on a meaningful opportunity supporting students' health and wellness for the 2026-2027 school year. A dedicated Registered Nurse is needed to provide compassionate care and expertise in a vibrant school environment near South Portland, ME. This full-time contract assignment runs Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 2:30pm, allowing for an ideal work-life balance and the chance to make a positive impact each day.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Current and valid RN license in Maine (or eligibility to obtain) Prior experience in a school setting or with pediatric populations is highly desirable Strong assessment, triage, and care coordination abilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to build trust with students, staff, and families Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative spirit, essential within school communities Knowledge of relevant state health regulations, student immunization requirements, and emergency procedures
Key Responsibilities:
Administer first aid and routine care to students and staff during school hours Develop and implement individualized health care plans for students with chronic conditions Dispense and manage medications as needed, ensuring compliance with all legal and district guidelines Maintain accurate health records in accordance with privacy laws Serve as a health resource for teachers, staff, and parents, fostering a safe and supportive environment Respond promptly and efficiently to medical emergencies This is a rewarding chance to be a vital part of a close-knit school community, providing essential services that support the well-being and academic success of students.
