Join Our Compassionate Team as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)

Position Summary:
Are you a compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of animals? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! As an RVT at Woods Humane Society, you will play a crucial role in providing daily care to our shelter population and assisting our dedicated veterinarians in our high volume spay/neuter clinic. You'll be a part of a team that's committed to making a difference in the lives of animals in our community.
Requirements:
Registered Veterinary Technician in the State of California; Minimum of one (1) year experience in a high-volume veterinary clinic or shelter setting preferred; Fear Free Veterinary Certification required within thirty (30) days of hire (employer-sponsored). A personal commitment to animal welfare. Strong oral and written communication skills, with a desire to collaborate with staff, volunteers, and the public in a consistently professional and educational manner. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and motivational skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated and detail-oriented. Ability to demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues, veterinarians, and outside organizations. Ability to perform various physical tasks, including lifting, bending, squatting, and standing for extended periods. Proficiency in handling and restraining animals. Ability to work in changing climates and environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assist DVMs in HQHVSN surgeries by leading daily anesthesia services, including surgical suite preparation, calculation and administration of anesthetic medications, patient preparation, induction and intubation, intra
  • and post-operative monitoring, and ensuring patient comfort, safety, and hygiene.
Perform a range of shelter medicine tasks, including administering medications, conducting basic exams, collecting samples, and providing vaccinations. Safely and effectively operate surgical equipment. Assist in maintaining a sterile surgical environment. Educate, train and guide veterinary assistants and volunteers. Maintain accurate records and coordinate with staff regarding animal medical status. Assist in managing inventory and admitting/discharging patients. Perform other veterinary and administrative tasks as needed.
Working Environment:
You'll be working in an animal shelter environment, which may expose you to various factors such as temperature variations, zoonotic diseases, and high noise levels. We prioritize your safety and provide the necessary equipment and training to ensure a secure work environment. Pay & Benefits
