Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 PM-7:30
AM Shift:
3rd Shift (Overnight)
Location :
Baystate Noble; Westfield MA Under the direction of the Revenue Cycle Registration Manager/Supervisor, the ED Registration Representative is responsible for interviewing patients and collecting patient demographic and insurance information in a fast-paced, high-stress Emergency Department environment. Collects necessary patient responsibility payments at the time of registration. Duties also include working closely with insurance, Clinical Staff, Medical Records, and other hospital personnel to ensure patient safety and fiscal reimbursement. Obtains necessary signatures of all required forms and interacts in a professional and courteous manner with fellow staff members and the public at large. As a level two the ED Registration Rep works more independently under the supervision of the Registration leadership and may take a mentorship role for new staff. Requirements 1) Demonstrate competency in proficiency testing >95%. 2) Maintain at least a 95% QA pass rate in overall account reviews, MSP, and RQA alerts. 3)

Must be capable of controlling emotions and reactions during tragic and sometimes dangerous patient interactions. Maintaining a calm and compassionate disposition is essential. Ability to communicate verbally and/or in writing with coworkers and clinical partners to problem-solve issues and share recommendations for improvements. 6) Demonstrates sound judgment and decision making, calls for support when needed. effective communication with shift changes and bulletin board updates. 7) Ability to complete FirstNet account discharges, transfers, and status changes. Ability to complete morning and afternoon Preadmissions by designated timeframe as well as surgical late discharges. Perform onsite functions. 8) Ability to train BH ED policies and procedures including Trauma Registration

Ability to communicate with clinical staff including Charge Nurses and Pod Leads Ability to analyze data received from insurance carriers to determine and educate patients about their financial responsibility. Must be able to request and collect pre-determined patient responsibility payments by use of an online payment portal; utilizes payment plan options for patients that cannot afford to make the payment in full. 10) Must be able to train successfully in donning and doffing of PPE. Demonstrate knowledge of basic concepts of Infection Control and can adapt this knowledge to BH ED environments. Understands sufficient medical terminology to communicate with clinical staff partners. 11) Able to manage scheduling changes. Obtain coverage for missed shifts 12) Precepts and mentors level I ED Patient Registration Reps. 13) Utilizes critical thinking skills in the management of crises cxxx and collaborates with management for resolution. Participates and contributes in quality improvements; committee work, staff meetings, participating in audits, and making recommendations for improvements.
