Part-Time Cook - Genesis Spiritual Center Unique opportunity to work at one of the best retreat centers in Western Mass. Job Description Genesis Spiritual Life and Conference Center in Westfield, MA is seeking a Part-Time Cook to work 20-24 hours per week. Must be available mornings and weekends, as needed, as well as some holidays. A typical schedule would be 3-4 week days and every other weekend. Genesis is a highly supportive work environment with a strong team spirit. The mission of Genesis is to create an atmosphere of hope and healing for all who come. The Part-Time Cook will prepare and serve meals for groups of guests ranging in size from 3 to 30, with occasional service as part of a team for larger parties and events. Accommodating food allergies and dietary restrictions of gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan are required. Genesis focuses on freshly prepared, healthy ingredients presented in an appealing and hospitable manner. Clean up, including sweeping and mopping floors, clearing and resetting dining tables, doing kitchen laundry, and washing guest dishes and cookware is routine. The Part-Time Cook will have the opportunity to contribute to menu design under the direction of the main Chef. Qualifications Demonstrated experience cooking in a group setting for at least three years. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Serve-Safe Certification. Ensure that established infection control policies and procedures are followed as observed. When necessary assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, verifying invoices for food, and equipment upon receipt, and submitting invoices to the bookkeeper. Ensure that standard cooking procedures are followed in accordance with established departmental policies.
