Job Description

Description Position Summary:
The Registration Representative - PRN is responsible for timely and accurate patient registration processes. Interviews patients for all pertinent account information, verifies insurance coverage, establishes need for pre-authorizations and financial counseling, and recovers co-pay, deductible and self pay payments as necessary. Ensures the collection of appropriate signatures for treatment, medical records and insurance processing.
Schedule:
PRN (as needed), no guaranteed hours - Must work 1 shift every 2 months Hours of operation: 7am-12am, shifts and times will vary.
Please Note:
During training period: Must be able to work M-F Daytime Hours After training period: Must be available to work a minimum of 1 shift every 2 months as needed on days, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
Welcomes and Interviews incoming patients, his/her relatives, or other responsible individuals to obtain necessary information for account processing, medical records and professional service needs; to include identifying and biographical information, insurance and financial information, employment information, emergency contacts and any/all required information. Process and review all necessary paperwork/forms as needed and necessary. Registers and discharges patients from system as necessary.
Customer Service:
Displays courtesy and sensitivity. Manages difficult or emotional customer situations, completing and reporting incidents as necessary. Meets commitments. Responds promptly, courteously and professionally to customer needs whether in person, or by telephone. Answer telephone/switchboard in the same manner. Work closely with physicians, nursing, ancillary departments, patient financial services, patients, insurance companies and families with equal respect and understanding. Adapts to changes in the work environment. Manages competing demands. Accepts criticism and feedback. Changes approach or method to best fit the situation. Coordinates all necessary efforts to collect co-pay, deductible, and self-pay funds prior to services when necessary following all Federal/State and Local laws and regulations include EMTALA. Obtains proper authorization/signatures required for the treatment of patients to include "consent for treatment", release of medical information, assignment of insurance benefits and payment of services from legally responsible parties for billing purposes and any treatment authorizations required for insurance reimbursement and/or any other necessary signature Checks for physician orders and performs any clerical duties necessary to ensure that the patient receives appropriate tests and services. Notifies nursing and ancillary staff as new orders are received. Participates in performance improvement activities, competency validation and continuing education, supporting and maintaining the goals of BHH, physicians, nursing and patient financial services. Maintains daily accuracy and collection goals.
