Your Role:
The responsibilities for this include analyzing, evaluating and pricing renewal business in accordance with company objectives and underwriting guidelines to achieve our renewal retention goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Renewal underwriting: Evaluate and price renewal business in alignment with company guidelines and retention goals Customer service: Process customer requests for quotes and respond within established service standards Policy review: Review and approve audits, inspections, endorsements and other account changes within service timelines Productivity management: Maintain individual productivity levels consistent with team expectations and service commitments Research and development: Conduct research to support the development and improvement of underwriting guidelines Cross-functional collaboration: Partner with claims and internal teams to identify trends, address issues and recommend solutions Market intelligence: Gather competitive insights to understand product positioning and inform underwriting decisions Relationship management: Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support retention and satisfaction
Communication:
Clearly explain and justify pricing decisions, coverage changes and underwriting actions to customers Brand representation: Effectively communicate the company's value proposition, products and team story
What You'll Bring:
Underwriting expertise: Knowledge of commercial property and casualty, personal insurance or professional liability underwriting Analytical skills: Strong critical thinking and decision-making abilities Communication skills: Ability to clearly articulate underwriting decisions and build relationships Team mindset: Positive, self-motivated and collaborative approach in a fast-paced environment Business acumen: Understanding of market conditions, risk evaluation and insurance fundamentals
Adaptability:
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing business needs
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent business/industry experience
Experience:
Minimum of three years of underwriting experience or a minimum of five years of relevant business experience (e.g., insurance, financial services, legal, claims or sales) Professional development : Willingness to complete USLI's People's College Underwriting Degree (PCUD) within 24 months of hire Certifications (preferred): CPCU, ASLI, RPLU, INS or other insurance-related coursework
