Job Description
The Reports Analyst is responsible for delivering customer reports ensuring the data needs are met using available systems. The Reports Analyst compiles reports and creates dashboards of performance metrics. Works closely with hospital workforce members to maximize efficient and effective use of systems. The Reports Analyst is responsible to provide support to end users with the goal of diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving district report issues.

Directly responsible to ITS Director Works closely withITS Department, Board Members, District Leaders and Vendors Occupational Hazards:
Works in the general hospital setting. May be exposed to blood, body fluids, or tissues as well as patients in varying stages of infectious states.Samples of Duties:

Collect data from health information systems, billing systems, phone systems, and additional databases to generate reports that enhance operational efficiency. Gather, compile, and analyze healthcare data from various sources such as patient records, surveys, clinical trials, and databases. Ensure that the data is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant for the report being written Summarize complex medical, clinical, or operational data for both healthcare professionals and non-medical audiences. Report Creation-Build reports and dashboards to track performance and patient care. Ensure that all reports meet legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, including compliance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and other relevant healthcare regulations. Follow proper formatting, terminology, and documentation standards for medical writing. Work closely with the IT Department to facilitate reports as needed from several IT applications. Quality Tracking-Monitor patient outcomes and hospital performance for improvement. Financial Analysis-Analyze claims, billing, and payment trends to optimize revenue. Population Health Monitoring-Track health trends and identify at-risk patient groups. Support Clinical Decisions-Provide data to help doctors make better treatment choices. Benchmarking-Compare performance with industry standards and predict future needs. Team Collaboration-Work with doctors, administrators, and other departments to meet reporting needs. Attend and organize meetings or briefings to discuss findings, clarify information, and ensure the accuracy of the report content Report Automation-Automate routine reports to save time and ensure accuracy. Knowledge of:
The Mission, Vision, and Values of Northern Inyo Healthcare District; NIHD policies and procedures, including Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and Confidentiality standards; NIHD safety policies and procedures, including the Rainbow Chart, Employee Health, and Infection Prevention standards; Healthcare Data Systems and Tools (EHR systems): must handle sensitive patient and healthcare information with utmost confidentiality and discretion. It is essential to follow all privacy and security protocols when managing healthcare data. Familiarity with Cerner data structures, DA2 extracts, or similar EHR reporting frameworks used to access clinical and financial data. Extensive knowledge of healthcare workflow, including clinical and financial aspects.Healthcare Financial Systems:
Understanding of hospital financial platforms (e.g., MultiView or similar) including general ledger structure, AP/AR workflows, and how financial data supports operational and regulatory reporting. Knowledge of IT foundations and infrastructure (i.e. SFTP, databases)Reporting Tools and Data Visualization Regulatory and Compliance Standards Quality and Performance Metrics Clinical Processes and Terminology:
A solid grasp of healthcare terminology (e.g., ICD and CPT codes) and hospital workflows is needed to align reporting with clinical practices.Communication and Collaboration Skills:
Analysts must be able to present insights clearly to various stakeholders, including clinicians, administrators, and executives, while working effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong SQL skills for querying databases, experience in data cleaning, extraction, validation, and basic statistical analysis are important for data interpretation.SQL Skills:

Experience working with major Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) systems (e.g., Cerner, Epic, Meditech, CPSI, NextGen, or similar), including navigation of clinical and financial modules for reporting purposes. 4+ years of experience in report writing for hospitals or healthcare facilities. 2+ years' experience working in Healthcare IT as a report writer writing clinical, financial and quality reports.Education:
