Job Summary The Research Technician will support a translational research program focused on lung (LUSC) and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), extracellular vesicle (EV) biology, and cisplatin-resistance mechanisms. The technician will receive comprehensive training in cell culture, EV isolation, molecular assays, and drug-response workflows. This role is ideal for candidates seeking hands-on research experience and long-term skill development in a cancer biology laboratory. Key Responsibilities Maintain LUSC and HNCC parental and resistant cell lines under BSL 2 conditions. Assist with EV isolation using ultracentrifugation and size exclusion chromatography. Perform basic molecular assays (Western blotting, qPCR) after training. Assist with IncuCyte live cell imaging experiments, including setting up plates, monitoring real time proliferation, migration, and apoptosis assays. Support 3D spheroid generation, maintenance, and drug response assays, including IncuCyte based spheroid imaging and quantification. Support drug response experiments, including viability and apoptosis assays. Prepare media, reagents, buffers, and EV related consumables. Record experimental observations accurately in electronic lab notebooks. Assist in organizing data for future grants. Maintain reagent logs, EV production records, and inventory databases. Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace. Monitor inventory and assist with ordering reagents and consumables. Support equipment maintenance and calibration schedules. Work closely with the PI and senior researchers to learn new techniques. Participate in lab meetings and contribute to project discussions. Assist in training new students once proficient. Other duties as assigned. Required Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. Prior exposure to cell culture, molecular biology, or imaging-based assays (e.g., IncuCyte) is helpful but not mandatory. Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask and manage laboratory operations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Previous experience in a research laboratory, particularly in cell culture and cell-based assays Experience with lab management, inventory control, and ordering laboratory supplies. Knowledge of biosafety and regulatory requirements for laboratory operations. Working Environment Laboratory and research environment.
