Job Description
Position Summary:
The Disaster Recovery Residential Construction Project Manager works with Disaster Case Managers and skilled volunteers to aid survivors in returning to safe, sanitary, and secure housing. The Residential Construction Project Manager is responsible for conducting hurricane damage assessments, repair plans, and client home cost estimates. The Residential Construction Project Manager will also work with the conference volunteer coordinator and local recovery staff to facilitate volunteer labor for home repairs as appropriate. The Residential Construction Project Managers are responsible for oversight, coordination, and material purchases related to repair work and are the point of contact and coordinator for all hired contracting vendors. They must also assist with any other special projects/duties assigned by their supervisor.Salary Range:
$50,000-53,000 (experience dependent)Key Competencies:

Residential construction management experience Fluent with North Carolina Building Code An appreciation of the nature and mission of the Church Maintain ethical conduct in accordance with organizational policy Operate in a manner consistent with WNCCUMC's mission, values, and policies Available to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends Possess High School Diploma or equivalent Able to maintain high standards for protecting survivor information and sharing confidential information only as agreed upon by the survivor and as evidenced by a signed release form Able to work calmly and effectively to resolve conflicts in sensitive situations Able to work collaboratively with others Able to maintain appropriate client/survivor boundaries Able to utilize word processing, database, spreadsheets, and project management software and demonstrate the ability to learn new and/or customized software Ability to supervise and motivate volunteers appropriately, including conflict resolution Possess excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills, e.g.: Documentation and Data Management skills Cultural competence relevant to the population served Sensitivity to the needs of individuals and families in crisis Possess genuine care and respect for individuals, families, and communities served Active membership in a United Methodist Church is preferred but not required. Applicant should possess no outside business interest that may conflict with the client/survivor or the organization's goals and objectives Upon hiring: Safety & driving record screening as evidenced by a background check Completion of the UMCOR disaster case management training Completion of Safe Sanctuary child and youth protection training.Essential Job Functions:
Assist clients through the home repair process by providing guidance, supervision, technical advice, and expertise in conjunction with Disaster Case Managers (DCM) Walk homeowners through the proper permit process Conduct project inspections and provide itemized estimates for labor and materials Complete and explain the statement of understanding with the homeowners before work commences. Coordinate the efforts of volunteers, contractors, and inspectors to complete multiple projects promptly in partnership with the rest of the direct services team. Cultivate effective relationships with partner agencies, inspectors, vendors, and the community. Meet with appropriate building inspectors and have a good working knowledge of standard codes and construction. Secure all components needed to complete home repair projects, including timely acquisition of materials, equipment, and tools in partnership with the Donations Committee, Case Management, and Funding Committee as needed Supervise the work of all volunteers and contractors to ensure safety and quality workmanship. Maintain accurate records of construction progress and financial accounts for each project. Complete all essential documentation and reports, including home repair agreements. Manage and control building records, tools, and equipment Demonstrate and teach construction skills and techniques to volunteers and disaster survivors as needed Communicate effectively with teams, DCMs, and Conference staff during the recruitment and scheduling process Ensure all materials are on site when volunteers arrive and that they have a clear understanding of the work to be done Coordinate on-site management of the team's work in cooperation with Disaster Case Managers and Conference staff When volunteers are working, be on-site at the beginning and end of the workday and other times as needed throughout the day Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to inform incoming teams of site-specific disaster information and community information Work with Recovery staff to keep the Long-Term Recovery (LTR) and local community updated on volunteer needs and incoming teams Work with the Volunteer Coordinator to keep all volunteer records: number of teams, number of volunteers, number of hours worked, and on which projectsWorking Conditions:
You must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle to drive long distances. Must be capable of driving a WNCCUMC-owned truck and pulling up to a 7,000 lb. trailer.Hybrid Office:
Roughly 60% Field Work, 25% Regional Office, 15% Home Office Constant interaction with internal and external partners to collect and distribute information. Adaptability to environmental factors, including noises, odors, variable climate, etc. Spends 40% or more of time sitting; the remainder of time includes walking, standing, and physical labor. Frequent lifting (35 - 50 lbs.) and climbing stairs Work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, survivors, and other agencies involved in the recovery.Benefits Health Insurance Coverage:
