This role works closely with project, functional, and executive leaders to improve planning accuracy, highlight delivery risks, and support realistic prioritization of work. Based in Draper, Utah, the position plays an important part in strengthening visibility, balancing competing needs, and enabling more predictable execution across project and operational initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain resource planning models that show available capacity across teams, roles, and geographic areas.
- Combine project-related needs and ongoing operational demands into a unified view to support enterprise planning.
- Review allocation patterns to identify staffing gaps, workload imbalances, and areas where delivery may be at risk.
- Partner with project managers and functional leaders to validate assumptions, refine forecasts, and improve planning accuracy.
- Prepare scenario analyses that help leadership evaluate sequencing options, trade-offs, and priority changes.
- Support portfolio reviews and planning meetings with clear reporting on capacity, utilization, and resource constraints.
- Maintain dashboards and reporting tools, including Smartsheet, to improve visibility into staffing trends and decision-making data.
- Help strengthen resource governance practices by reinforcing alignment between approved work and available capacity.
- Promote continuous improvement by encouraging transparency, educating stakeholders, and advancing adoption of resource management processes. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Operations, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in resource management, project management, program management, or portfolio planning.
- Demonstrated success with capacity planning, demand forecasting, and resource utilization analysis.
- Experience working within matrixed or federated organizations with shared accountability across teams.
- Strong ability to support executive decision-making through data analysis, reporting, and scenario modeling.
- Proficiency with portfolio and resource planning tools, including experience using Smartsheet.
- Solid analytical, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Certification such as PMP, PgMP, or an equivalent credential is preferred.
