Restaurant Host/Hostess Reports To:
Restaurant Manager /
Food & Beverage Manager Job Summary:
The Restaurant Host/Hostess is responsible for creating a welcoming and positive first impression for all guests entering the restaurant. This position manages guest seating, reservations, wait lists, and assists in maintaining smooth restaurant operations while providing exceptional customer service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Greet all guests in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner Manage reservations and wait lists accurately Escort guests to tables and provide menus Maintain knowledge of table availability and seating rotation Communicate effectively with servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff Answer phone calls and assist guests with questions regarding menu items, hours, and reservations Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host stand and entrance area Assist with opening and closing duties Monitor dining room flow to ensure efficient seating and guest satisfaction Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary Assist with special events, large parties, and rooftop seating coordination when needed
Qualifications:
Previous restaurant or customer service experience preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Professional appearance and positive attitude Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Basic computer and reservation system knowledge preferred Must be dependable and punctual Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods of time Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Work Environment:
Fast-paced restaurant and bar environment Indoor and outdoor rooftop dining areas Frequent interaction with guests and team members
