Greensboro, NC 27407 Job Overview Double Hung LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Restoration Technician to perform hands-on restoration work on historic window and door systems. This role involves a wide range of preservation tasks—including paint stripping, sash repair, glazing, and finish painting—performed both in the shop and on project sites. The ideal candidate will have experience with carpentry and restoration techniques, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to quality craftsmanship. Frequent travel to historic project sites across the region is expected and fully supported with lodging, per diem, and travel expenses. Our team combines traditional techniques with modern project execution to restore windows and doors that tell stories of the past. Key Responsibilities Perform hands-on restoration including scraping, sanding, carpentry repairs, glazing, priming, and painting of window sashes and doors. Disassemble, restore, and re-install historic window and door systems, including hardware and weather stripping. Use hand and power tools to complete Dutchman repairs and epoxy consolidations. Participate in on-site window removal and installation processes. Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces, including shop and job sites. Ensure all tools are properly used, maintained, and stored. Adhere strictly to safety protocols, reporting any hazards or incidents immediately. Work collaboratively with team members and project managers to complete tasks efficiently and accurately. Travel to job sites as required—typically for up to one or two weeks at a time.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid driver's license with clean driving record. 1+ years of experience in restoration, carpentry, or related trades. Comfortable using tools for wood repair, finish removal, and installation. Ability to lift 25-50 lbs unassisted and work on ladders or scaffolding. Excellent attention to detail, craftsmanship, and jobsite conduct. Proficient in English with strong communication skills.
Preferred:
Prior experience in window restoration or preservation carpentry. Familiarity with epoxy, adhesives, fasteners, and tools used in preservation. Ability to read and follow basic drawings and measurements. Proficiency in Spanish is a plus. PM Field Hours:
6:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday to Friday; occasional overtime and overnight travel required.
