$23-$26/hr Store hours 8am to 6pm Position Summary The Operations Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily retail functions with a strong focus on merchandising, purchasing, customer service, and vendor relations. This role ensures that products are well-stocked, competitively priced, attractively merchandised, and aligned with customer needs. The ideal candidate has hands-on retail experience, a strong understanding of feed, pet, and hardware products, and the leadership ability to support and guide store staff. This position is essential in maintaining a clean, organized, efficient, and customer-friendly store environment while managing margins and supporting the overall profitability of the business.

Requirements:

2+ years retail experience Merchandising or purchasing experience preferred Ability to lift 50-80 lbs (feed bags, hardware materials) Basic computer and POS systems experience Strong customer service and communication skills Job Duties & Responsibilities 1. Merchandising & Product Management Merchandise shelves to create visually appealing and customer-friendly displays. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked sales floor. Identify new product opportunities to expand offerings in hardware, pet, and feed categories. Regularly rotate, refresh, and update product displays to keep the store engaging. Monitor sales trends to adjust inventory levels and product selection. 2. Purchasing & Vendor Relations Work with multiple vendors across hardware, feed, and pet supply categories. Build and maintain strong vendor relationships for competitive pricing and reliable supply. Manage purchase orders, monitor stock levels, and ensure timely restocking. Negotiate pricing and terms when appropriate to maximize profitability. Review cost changes and adjust retail pricing to maintain margins. 3. Pricing & Point of Sale (POS) Oversight Update pricing in the POS system as needed for new and existing items. Add new inventory items to the POS with accurate descriptions, pricing, and codes. Run the cash register, handle transactions, and assist with customer checkout. Troubleshoot basic POS issues and ensure accurate daily register operations. 4. Customer Service & Community Engagement Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with product questions. Develop a welcoming environment for local customers and the community. Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently. Share product knowledge and make helpful recommendations. 5. Leadership & Team Collaboration Lead by example in work ethic, professionalism, and customer service. Support and guide team members during daily operations. Assist in training new employees on products, procedures, and customer service standards. Communicate effectively with ownership regarding store needs and performance. 6. Operational Support Maintain store cleanliness, including stocking, sweeping, organizing, and general upkeep. Participate in physical inventory counts and cycle counts. Ensure product signage, labels, and shelf tags are accurate and up to date. Follow all safety procedures related to feed, hardware, and animal product handling.
