Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist - Retail Job Type Direct Hire A retail pharmacist opportunity is available at a well-established pharmacy located inside a grocery store in Alamogordo, New Mexico, with secondary coverage at an additional retail location nearby. This role involves providing expert pharmaceutical care in a community grocery store setting while overseeing pharmacy technician staff and ensuring compliance with all medication safety protocols. The position is open for direct hire and is suitable for pharmacists ready to commit to a 13-week assignment or longer, with consideration given to shorter durations.

Location:

Alamogordo, New Mexico (Primary retail location inside a grocery store) Secondary retail location coverage as needed, including occasional weekends

Schedule:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday:

9:00 AM - 6:00

PM Wednesday, Friday:

9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Closed weekends at primary location; occasional weekend shifts at secondary location

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately prepare, review, and dispense medication orders following all safety and protocol standards Maintain precise patient medication profiles and ensure timely updates Supervise and guide pharmacy technician staff, verifying daily workflow and activities Participate in medical emergency response as a critical member of the pharmacy team Conduct medication storage area inspections and identify expired or outdated inventory Orient and train new pharmacy team members to maintain high standards of care and compliance Adhere strictly to infection control protocols throughout pharmacy operations Provide patient counseling to ensure understanding of medications and safe usage

Qualifications and Experience:

Active New Mexico Pharmacist License or willingness to obtain prior to starting (licensing assistance available) Minimum one year of experience as a registered pharmacist preferred APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days Ability and willingness to cover shifts at the secondary retail location, including occasional weekends Strong communication, leadership, and patient counseling skills essential Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable working across multiple retail locations This direct hire opportunity offers a competitive hourly rate reflective of experience and qualifications.
