Job Description
Revenue Specialist Stephens County Tax Commissioner's Office - Toccoa, GA Stephens County is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused Revenue Specialist to join our Tax Commissioner's Office team. This position plays an important role in serving the public by assisting with motor vehicle transactions, tax collection, title processing, and other revenue-related services. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys helping others, and can manage multiple responsibilities with professionalism and accuracy. What You'll Do Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Motor Vehicle & Title Services Process motor vehicle and manufactured home titles and registrations Collect Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT), motor vehicle taxes, and Georgia sales tax Process insurance fines, suspensions, disabled placards, and school bus infractions Issue manufactured home relocation permits Review and verify legal documentation related to title transfers and registrations Determine appropriate tag classifications and applicable fees Tax Collection & Financial Processing Collect taxes for motor vehicles, manufactured homes, personal property, timber, heavy equipment, and real estate Calculate taxes, penalties, and fees accurately Process and reconcile cash, check, and credit card payments Maintain accurate financial and transaction records Assist with delinquent tax collection efforts through phone calls, letters, site visits, and in-person interactions Customer Service & Administrative Support Assist taxpayers and the public with tax and title-related questions Communicate professionally with car dealerships, attorneys, financial institutions, and outside agencies Maintain organized records and computerized financial data Support daily operations within the Tax Commissioner's Office Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license Ability to obtain Notary Public certification Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Preferred Previous office, tax, bookkeeping, or customer service experience Knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping principles Familiarity with motor vehicle regulations or tax procedures General knowledge of Stephens County What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is: Detail-oriented and dependable Professional under pressure Comfortable working with the public Self-motivated and adaptable A strong team player with excellent customer service skills Additional Requirements Must pass financial and criminal background checks Position is subject to a six-month probationary period Attendance at required training workshops is mandatory How to Apply Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
