Job Title:
Maintenance Technician II - Mechanical & Robotics Job Description This role supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging, distribution, and material handling equipment, including conveyor and pneumatic systems. You will troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive and predictive maintenance, and help ensure that the facility operates safely and efficiently around the clock. Responsibilities Promote a safe working environment by consistently following all safety procedures and guidelines. Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance routines on material handling equipment and document all work accurately. Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on material handling equipment, including belts, motors, photo-eyes, relays, and related components. Install, maintain, and repair automated packaging and distribution equipment, including conveyor systems and pneumatic equipment. Use a multimeter and other diagnostic tools to identify and resolve electrical and electronic issues. Fabricate and repair components using metal and wood to support equipment maintenance and improvements. Interpret and work from blueprints and electrical schematics to perform maintenance and repair tasks. Maintain positive working relationships across all areas of the operations facility to support smooth coordination of maintenance activities. Track, organize, and store department inventory, tools, and spare parts to ensure availability and proper usage. Move and handle equipment and materials weighing up to 49-50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation. Stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, including moving between departments, floors, and properties as needed. Crouch, kneel, squat, climb steps and ladders, and reach above the head to install, service, and move equipment. Work effectively in an environment with fluctuating temperatures while wearing required personal protective equipment such as masks, face shields, and composite-toed boots. Use a computer or stand-up desk regularly, including typing and completing digital documentation for 1-2 hours per day. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. At least 2 years of experience working with automated conveyor systems and controls. At least 2 years of experience repairing material handling equipment. At least 2 years of experience performing predictive and preventive maintenance procedures. At least 1 year of metal fabrication and wood fabrication experience. At least 1 year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics. At least 1 year of knowledge and hands-on experience with electrical and electronic principles. Ability to safely and effectively use a multimeter for troubleshooting. Mechanical aptitude in maintenance, industrial maintenance, and troubleshooting. Basic electrical skills related to industrial and material handling systems. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing, kneeling, squatting, and reaching. Ability to walk 6 to 12 miles per day within the facility as needed for maintenance tasks. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields. 2 or more years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field. Experience working with material handling equipment safety standards in accordance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and safety guidelines. Project management experience, including planning and coordinating maintenance tasks or small projects. Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work orders and maintenance tracking. Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in an industrial or distribution environment. Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions in automated systems. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a large operations facility that uses automated conveyor systems, material handling equipment, pneumatic systems, and robotics to support packaging and distribution activities. You will work hands-on with tools, diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, and a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to perform and document maintenance. Shifts can last up to 12 hours and involve extensive standing, walking 6 to 12 miles per day, and frequent movement between departments, floors, and properties. The work requires regular climbing of steps and ladders, kneeling, squatting, crouching, and reaching above the head to access and service equipment. You will frequently lift and move equipment and materials up to 49-50 lbs. The facility environment includes fluctuating temperatures, and you will perform tasks while wearing required personal protective equipment, including a mask, face shield, and composite-toed boots. You will also use a computer or stand-up desk for 1-2 hours per day to complete documentation and manage maintenance activities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bloomington, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
